TWIST: How did you first start singing?
Megan Nicole: I started singing when I was in fourth grade. My dad got us a karaoke machine for Christmas and I started to play around on that, and I realized that I really enjoy singing. But it probably wasn't until my freshman year [of high school], when I picked up the guitar, that I really fell in love with music altogether and decided that it was something that I wanted to pursue.
TWIST: Tell us about the video that started it all for you!
MN: The video that started it all was a cover of [Eminem and Rihanna's] "Love the Way You Lie." It was a collaboration video and it ended up going viral. I ended up rapping a verse in the song, which was very interesting. We had another rapper, but he only learned two of the verses, so the other singer said, "Do you wanna give it a go?" and I said, "I don't usually rap, but I'll give it a try!" It seemed to work!
TWIST: Do you have any favorite YouTubers?
MN: I really enjoy Boyce Avenue, I've worked with them four times before. They're really awesome and very, very talented. They're good at putting a twist on the song.
TWIST: Do you have a go-to favorite outfit?
MN: I have this little black leather dress I got from H&M that I wear all the time, it's so easy! I love dresses because you put them on and you have a complete outfit. That's usually my go-to dress because it's plain and black and I can wear some fun tights with it.
TWIST: What is the biggest fashion mistake that you see girls make?
MN: Shorts that look more like underwear!
TWIST: How can you best accessorize an outfit?
MN: Definitely just having simple pieces that go with a lot of things. Like maybe a pair of little studs that you can wear with every outfit, a simple necklace and probably something that's either silver or gold in color that can go with a lot of things.
TWIST: Describe your personal style!
MN: Well, I love heels and I love tights. That's actually kind of one thing that I'm sad about. I am happy that it's starting to become warm again but I love wearing tights because I have so many crazy kinds. I also love high-waisted skirts and collared shirts.
TWIST: Do you have any tips on walking in heels?
MN: I don't know where I heard this from but you're supposed to walk heel-toe, heel-toe, so sometimes I'll catch myself when I'm walking and remind myself because I'll stumble. I'm not very good in walking in heels so I don't know if I should be the one giving advice. Although I do love them, I'm not the best at walking in them.
TWIST: Do you have any favorite drugstore beauty products?
MN: I really like Baby Lips. I have this Cover Girl lipgloss I use a lot. Drugstores are great for lipglosses and nail polish.
TWIST: When can we expect more music from you?
MN: They can expect to hear more music in the spring. That's very soon, so I'm very excited!
