TWIST recently chatted with English musician Cher Lloyd, one of the stars from the seventh season of The X-Factor! Cher talked to us about her experience on the show, her favorite musical artists and some exclusive deets about her newest single. Check out the interview and our exclusive video below!
XOXO,
TWIST
Twist: So first, how would you describe your music and your sound?
CL: My music is completely different. I'd say it's like as if someone put a jukebox on because every song that I record and I write, I make sure it's different. Sometimes, particular artist will do songs that sound the same and I don't want to be like that.
Twist: Cool. So can you tell me about your single "I want you back," and the music video you shot? I watched it this morning and it looked like it was so much fun!
CL: Yea, you know, I've been out in the UK for about a year now, and I've been doing a few things but I feel like I've come to the US and I'm allowed to do what I want to do. And like the video is basically me being able to dress the way I wanted to dress, you know, and it's just fresh and new and it's just a new start for me.
Twist: And for readers who maybe haven't listened to the song so much can you tell them what it's about?
CL: It's about a relationship that's broke up and it's basically the girl feeling really jealous that the guy's gone off with someone else and she just wants him back.
Twist: Cool. So obviously you see some familiar faces on the cover of our magazine, so for our readers who are absolutely in love with One Direction, can you tell us what the guys were like on the set of The X-Factor?
CL: The X-Factor was a great experience for me and I'm sure it was for them as well. They're really nice guys.
Twist: Awesome. And on The X-Factor you got to perform with Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas. That's so cool. So what other musicians are you just dying to work with?
CL: I'm dying to work with Nicki Minaj and Lil' Wayne. I think those two are the ones that I'm completely [gasp] about. Nicki's the best female rapper I've ever come across and she's different. She's not scared to express herself and that's why I really admire her.
Twist: That sounds so awesome! So you've spoken up in the past about being a victim of cyber-bullying. How have you dealt with that and do you have any advice for our readers?
CL: Yea, definitely. You know, if you are in the position where you are being cyber-bullied, I think the main bit of advice I'd give anyone is to speak out about it whether it be your parents or your friends. And then get more advice. I mean, there's lots of websites you can go on to seek advice. So I think just use your tools that are available. Don't react to it, though.
Twist: Do you have any embarrassing moments you'd like to share with us?
CL: Of course! Okay, right, so I arrive at the airport, I'm flying to the States and I have this pair of jeans on that I really really like, and I'm going through security and my boyfriend has already gone through. He's seeing if I'm okay and I'm following behind him and the beeper went off at the security because I had a hair band in. I turned around and my boyfriend saw that I had a huge hole in the back of my trousers. Like this (gesture) big! You could see my butt!
Twist: Oh no. What'd you do?
CL: I stretched my top. I pulled it and stretched it to try and cover it. It was possibly the worst experience ever.
Twist: Oh no. That's rough! And the last question I have is do you have any upcoming projects our TWIST readers should know about?
CL: Yea, I mean, I'm going to be over here for a while and basically my project is to get a new army of brats. I call my fans brats ... not in a nasty way. Its just my fans tend to have a lot more attitude. (laughs) But yea, just to collect my army then take on the world!
Twist: We can't wait! Thanks so much for chatting with us!
CL: Thank you!
