Kayla Brianna just stopped by the TWIST office! The singer dished all about how she got her big break, how fun it is touring with Mindless Behavior and deets on her upcoming album! Check out our conversation and exclusive video below and don't forget to check out Kayla's single, "If You Love Me!"

XOXO,
TWIST

TWIST: How did you get your break in to the business as an artist?
Kayla Brianna: I originally started in girl groups and eventually started my solo career. I was doing demos and just recording in the studio, and this guy named Vincent Herbert - who's one of the major forces behind Lady Gaga, Mindless Behavior and OMG Gurlz - heard one of my songs and suggested I work with the interns who are producers now. They had done Rihanna's "Birthday Cake," and worked with artists like Big Sean and Ludacris. With them, I did a remake of Brownstone's "If You Love Me." A guy by the name of Ron Fair heard it at Interscope Records. He was like 'Who is this?' and wanted to meet with me. So I had a few meetings with him and he ended up signing me to Interscope.

T: Awesome! Which one of your songs is most personal to you?
KB: Besides my single "If You Love Me," another personal song would be "One Kiss." I feel like a lot of people can relate to it. It's just real R&B, really relatable, and I'm emotionally attached to the song.

T: Cool! Do you write your own music?
KB: Yes I do. The process is different every time. Sometimes I'll have a thought already that I want to sing about when I go into the studio, or sometimes we're all in the studio bouncing ideas off of each other. Both ways work and both ways are fun!

T: Awesome! Who are some of your musical influences?
KB: I think my sound is mostly influenced by Brandy. I also love Beyonce, 90's Destiny's Child, and Jojo, just to name a few. I really like all those artists, so my music is definitely a reflection or sometimes an extension of their music.

T: Awesome! So you're the opening act for Mindless Behavior this summer. How is the touring experience with the boys?
KB: It's a LOT of fun! It's my first tour and the boys are so awesome to tour with! There was a time when I started getting threats from their fans because I guess they weren't used to me being around, but that calmed down and they started getting comfortable with me. I really wanted to clear up everything with their fans because that's the same audience I'm trying to attract, you know, young girls.

T: OMG! While on tour, what's the craziest thing you've brought with you in your suitcase?
KB: Hmmmm ... I can't think of something that's really crazy. I mean I always bring my phone with me wherever I go but that's not really crazy. Okay, one thing that I always have to bring would be about five different perfumes. I don't know why but I guess I really like perfume!

T: Your album is set to release this year. Do you have a final date yet?
KB: There are no final dates but my fans can expect all kinds of music on the album. I just want to do something fun that my fans can relate to and just love.

T: Cool! What can our readers expect next from you? Do you have anything in the works coming soon?
KB: My fans can expect a lot of great music from me, tons of good fashion and even a bit of acting coming soon. I'm trying to get out there in the acting world and see what it's like. After I finish touring with Mindless Behavior, I'm going straight into shooting my second video. And of course you guys can follow me on Twitter (@kaylabriannax) and visit my page: www.kaylabrianna.com.

T: Awesome! Thanks so much for talking with us Kayla!
KB: No problem! Thank you!
