Hey girls,

TWIST chatted with Suburgatory's Carly Chaikin! She dished to us about the show, her character Dalia and working with Miley Cyrus on The Last Song. Check out our interview below, and don't forget to tune into Suburgatory tonight on ABC!

Xoxo,
TWIST

TWIST: Could you tell us about Suburgatory?
Carly: Suburgatory is is a comedy about a girl who gets moved from New York City to the suburbs, because her dad thinks she's getting into trouble.

TWIST: Can you tell us about your character Dalia?
Carly: I play Dalia Royce. When Tessa comes into the city, I'm the first person she meets at school. I'm assigned to take her around, and we do not like each other but we keep finding ourselves in these situations where we have to be together. What I think is so special about the show too is not just Tessa and Dalia's relationship but everybody's relationship is so incredibly special. Each character is so interesting and unique.

TWIST: Are there similarities between yourself and Dalia?
Carly: Dalia is a brutally honest person, and I can be pretty brutally honest as well. When my friends ask me advice, I'm the kind of person that doesn't necessarily sugar coat it. [I can be] brutally honest, but not in a mean way.

TWIST: How does the cast of Suburgatory get along?
Carly: We have been so incredibly lucky because all of us get along so incredibly well. We've never had drama. Going to work every day is so much fun, and I look forward to it so much because of the chemistry that we all have on set.

TWIST: Why should TWIST readers tune in to Suburgatory?
Carly: It is laugh out loud funny, and [there's lots of] comedy in the different characters and in the different cliques. It's so relateable.

TWIST: What was it like working with Miley Cyrus on The Last Song?
Carly: That was my first movie, so it was one of the most surreal and amazing experiences I've had! Miley's such a great down-to-earth girl and someone I became really close with while we were working together. I got to live in Tidy Island for a summer. That's incredible!

TWIST: How did you get into acting?
Carly: I've been one of the lucky ones where no one in my family's in the business, but it's always been something I've wanted to do and something that I knew with every fiber of my being that I was going to do. It was like a series of serendipitous events where one thing led to another. I found my manager, who saw something in me, believed in me and took a chance. Two months later I booked The Last Song.

TWIST: Any projects you would like to tell us about?
Carly: We're still filming the show, so my focus is still mainly on Suburgatory.
