MKTO-Exclusive.jpg

TWIST just hung out with Tony Oller and Malcolm Kelley of MKTO! They dished to us about how they met, their new single, and their upcoming album. Check out our exclusive convo and video below!

XOXO,
TWIST

TWIST: How did you guys come together to create MKTO?
Tony Oller: We originally met on a TeenNick show called Gigantic where we played best friends.
Malcolm Kelley: It was a lot of fun.
TO: We had a lot of down time on the show and we both had a common interest for music. We took the down time we had to write music and do covers on YouTube.

TWIST: Tell us about your single "Thank You." What does it mean to you guys?
MK: It's a fun song. We were just singing about the times we're living in now with school and the presidential election. We wanted to make it catchy but heartfelt at the same time, so I think that brought a good message across.

TWIST: What it was like making the music video?
MK: Chris Mars did a great job. We were out on Wilshire [Boulevard in LA] on top of a Range Rover, just partying and doing like graffiti on the wall type stuff. They had it set up in a day's time span and we just knocked it out. It was just so much fun. Our friends were there and our producers came through so it was a family environment.
TO: Yeah it was cool getting our friends involved.
MK: It was fun.

TWIST: Are you more focused on singing or acting right now?
MK: They go hand in hand, but we're focused on our music right now.
TO: I have a movie that I did called The Purge with Ethan Hawke that comes out at the end of May. When time gives itself we'll get back into acting but right now we're just focused on our music.

TWIST: How do music and acting compare to you guys?
TO: It's funny because they seem to be really similar.
MK: They are. The only difference is that I like being on stage. You put it all out there and it's one shot. There's so much love and energy from all of the fans. With acting you get a couple takes and you have a chance to re-do stuff. It's just about that "all right now."

TWIST: What's it like to be in a group with one of your best friends?
MK: It's fun. It's easy -- it just flows. Being up on stage, I know who's over there on the other side.
TO: It's just fun! We dreamed about this. We'd be in our dressing room looking in the mirror like, "Dude, there are people, you go over there, I'll go over here." Cut to two years later and it's just crazy what life brings you, because we're just best friends having fun.
TO: Surreal, so surreal.

TWIST: Do each of you have a favorite song that you have done?
TO: What's cool about this record is that we had the opportunity to do solo songs within the album. I wrote a song that was really close to me that was called "Wasted." It's a really nice song, a "Someone Like You" kind of ballad. It's something I was really proud of.
MK: I did one called "Nowhere." Eric Bellinger came in and wrote it with me. It's pretty dope. It's up-tempo.
TO: Our album's so diverse. It's really everything. I love it.
MK: Yeah, slow songs, pop - our writers are so dope. Eman and Evan Bogart, they definitely know how to just let us help. We also helped write the single, "Thank You," so it's just them giving us the opportunity.

TWIST: What's next for you guys?
MK: Our album's coming out later in the year. It's really dope.
TO: We're just excited because right now it's just kind of all coming over to the States. We're getting out on radio here, which is amazing because we started originally in New Zealand and Australia. In Australia we're number two or three on iTunes right now. It's doing awesome out there! We're going to Australia after this so we're really excited so we're just going wherever they tell us and we're just excited to perform.
MK: Our album's going to be dope, too. We've got Ne-Yo on there. I'm just so excited for us to be performing our whole album in front of everybody. Can't wait for everybody to hear it.
TO: It's just fun. It's so surreal. Everything we do is.
MK: Just gets better and better!

10 Must-See Looks from The 2013 MTV Movie Awards

The red carpet at last night's 2013 MTV Movie Awards was as unpredictable as host Rebel Wilson. Our favorite stars stepped out in everything from glitzy thigh-high minis and chic white pant suits to see-through lace bell-bottoms (yes, you read that right!). Here are the girls who killed it in the fashion department and a few celebs who could have used a second opinion before walking out the door.

selena-gomez-2013-mtv-movie-awards.jpg

Before slipping into a red boho number for her awesome performance of "Come and Get It," Selena Gomez stunned in a super-sparkly gold fringed Julien Macdonald mini dress, plus peep-toe pumps and a head-turning braid (which we'll tell you how to copy later this week!).

bella-thorne-2013-mtv-movie-awards.jpg

And while Selena went short and sexy, Bella Thorne surprised everyone by taking a cue from the boys in a chic cream Emporio Armani pantsuit. She kept the ladylike look fresh by adding colorful drop earrings.

chloe-moretz-2013-mtv-movie-awards.jpg

Another actress who (pleasantly) surprised us? Chloe Moretz thanks to her new spin on denim. She rocked a patchwork number by Louis Vuitton, pretty waves and t-strap heels.

emma-watson-2013-mtv-movie-awards.jpg

Emma Watson was honored with the Trailblazer award for her acting skills, but she also deserves it for her style choices: She took one of the biggest risks of the night in a futuristic printed mini-dress by Maxime Simoens.

kylie-jenner-2013-mtv-movie-awards.jpg

Kylie Jenner went two-toned in a high-waisted cream pencil skirt paired with an on-trend white crop top, proving that white was the color of the night. She finished off her outfit with a gold chain necklace and pointy-toe pumps.

ariana-grande-2013-mtv-movie-awards.jpg

Also in white was Ariana Grande, who channeled her inner-princess in a flirty number with an embroidered bodice and pleated skirt. We give her bonus points for her cute pink lip and half-up, half-down do.

kesha-2013-mtv-movie-awards.jpg

Ke$ha lived up to her over-the-top reputation in something that only the star would ever be caught wearing. Because who else would don see-through lace bellbottom pants and a fringe cape? No one.

kim-kardashian-2013-mtv-movie-awards.jpg

Though it's not her most questionable maternity look so far, we wish Kim Kardashian had flaunted her baby bump in something more flattering. If it weren't for the oversized bat sleeves, we would have loved her black number and killer gold necklace.

hayley-williams-2013-mtv-movie-awards.jpg

Hayley Williams matched her hair (well, half of it) to her orange socks. Hopefully this isn't the start of a new trend.

macklemore-2013-mtv-movie-awards.jpg

Almost beating Ke$ha in the most jaw-dropping look of the night was rapper Macklemore in a regal-inspired blue cape and coordinating suit. Insert "Thrift Shop" joke here.

Now it's your turn to tell us what you thought of the MTV Movie Awards red carpet! Who was your best and worst dressed? Do you agree with us? Tell us in the comments!

The Coolest Coachella Looks: Bella Thorne, Kristen Stewart & More!

Sure, there were a bunch of awesome bands that played this weekend at Coachella, a three-day music festival in California, but what really caught our attention was the killer fashion courtesy of some very famous concertgoers.

If you have any outdoor music performances on your summer schedule, we recommend taking wardrobe cues from five ladies who put their own stylish spin on festival gear: Bella Thorne, Solange Knowles, Kristen Stewart, Julianne Hough, and Vanessa Hudgens.

bella-thorne-coachella-2013.jpg

The must-have Coachella accessory? A floral crown. Every year, almost all the girls in attendance top off their outfits with the flower-child headpiece, and 2013 was no different. Bella Thorne wore hers with a crocheted top, plus high-waisted denim cutoffs -- another festival favorite.

solange-knowles-coachella-2013.jpg

Solange Knowles wears bold patterns year-round, so it's not surprising that she wore a funky lemon-printed mini with coordinating peep-toe platforms to the Cali concert. (If you can't fathom rocking out in sky-high heels, we think this dress would look equally cute with flat sandals.)

kristen-stewart-coachella-2013.jpg

Kristen Stewart wore her go-to outfit including a baseball hat, ripped-up tee, short-shorts, and Converse sneakers -- a comfortable get-up for a day of taking in music.

vanessa-hudgens-coachella-2013.jpg

Typically, we would never recommend wearing two types of tie-dye and a sparkly top, but Vanessa Hudgens gets away with it considering she is at a music festival.

julianne-hough-coachella-2013.jpg

While stylish disheveled seemed to be the dress code, that wasn't the case for Julianne Hough. Instead, the star went for cute and chic in a cream button-up blouse, jean shorts and a chain-link purse.

Whose Coachella style will you be copying this summer? Tell us in the comments!

Hollywood's Current Obsession: Floral Crowns

Vanessa Hudgens, Bella Thorne, and AnnaSophia Robb have a lot in common. They're all young actresses, they're all stylish, and they all happen to share the same penchant for a certain '60s-inspired accessory -- a floral crown.

The three stars stepped out over the weekend at Coachella, a three-day music festival in California, rocking the whimsy piece. And though each star went all-out with the flower-child vibe by also wearing hippie-inspired duds, the headpiece would look super-cute all summer long if paired with a simple maxi or jeans and a top. If you want to rock the statement style, we found three Woodstock-approved hair garlands to try:

This ASOS headband features oversized blooms, similar to the one Vanessa wore. Buy it here: asos.com, $17

This rose crown by Cult Gaia (a brand loved by celebs) is handmade and has an adjustable closure to ensure the perfect fit. Buy it here: cultgaia.com, $75

Attention Selena Gomez: If you're searching for wardrobe inspiration for your upcoming world tour, just look to the one and only Beyoncé.

The superstar kicked off her Mrs. Carter World Tour last night in Belgrade, Serbia and not surprisingly, the "Single Ladies" diva rocked the stage in some seriously amazing looks.

Some of our favorites included a gorgeous sheer-paneled white number designed by Ralph & Russo (above), a killer sparkly blue plunging bodysuit by Vrettos Vrettakos, and a black creation by Givenchy finished off with a cool baseball hat (below).

So, Selena, if you're reading this, we recommend taking notes.

Nail Art Alert: All the Details On Chloë Moretz's MTV Movie Award Mani

Yesterday we gave you the rundown on Chloë Moretz's red carpet style at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, but today we're zooming in on the details of her look: her nails!

chloe_moretz_mtv_movie_awards_2013_manicure.jpg

The actress complimented her denim Louis Vuitton dress (which we loved!) with nude nails featuring a punchy, unexpected pattern. She opted for an electric pink geometric print to freshen up the neutral base.

And Chloë's mani is really easy to copy at home. First, apply a light polish and let it dry. Then use a thin brush to apply the contrasting lines. (Trick: Once the base coat is completely dry, you can use scotch tape as a ruler.)

The Look We're Loving: Emmy Rossum's Pretty Spring Outfit

emmy_rossum_topshop_outfit.jpg

Thank you Emmy Rossum for solving all of our spring wardrobe worry woes with just one outfit. The star recently hit the red carpet in a look that was pretty much perfect from head to toe, and believe it or not, actually affordable.

Her cotton embroidered sleeveless shirt and yellow floral-print pleated skirt are both courtesy of Topshop. The top is just $64 and the bottom is $96, which is really surprising considering most stars' red carpet looks typically cost a few hundred, or even thousand dollars. (You can buy her shirt and skirt at topshop.com now!)

Emmy finished off her ensemble with tan strappy Jimmy Choo heels, but the skirt-shirt combo would look just as great with simple ballet flats or summery sandals.

And not only did she nail it in the clothing department, but we're also loving her on-trend fishtail braid and bold red lip. She smartly kept the rest of her makeup subtle considering her pout made such a statement.

Would you wear Emmy's outfit? We want to know!

Bella Thorne Reveals the One Beauty Product She Can't Live Without

bella_thorne_red_carpet_shot.jpg

Some girls won't leave the house without applying mascara or swiping on some lip gloss, but Bella Thorne's must-have beauty product is something that's not as pretty: sunscreen.

The Shake It Up star's mom taught her from an early age about skin protection - and it seems to be paying off since Bella's complexion is flawless. "She always has me use all these really nice face creams that she didn't have back in the day. And that helps me so I can have clean skin," Bella tells Hollywood Life.

And like most girls her age, clear skin doesn't come easy. "Fifteen is a hard age and for me it's hard to use a lot of products as my skin is very sensitive," the star explains.

To ensure your skin looks as radiant as Bella's, we found a few SPF products for you to try. (Just remember to reapply!)

Willa, an all-natural skincare line for young teens that was founded by a 12-year-old, sells a great face moisturizer to wear everyday. Buy it here: willaskincare.com, $14.50

Neutrogena's Wet Skin Kids' Sunscreen Spray Broad Spectrum is crazy-easy to apply and won't rub off when you jump in the pool. Buy it here: neutrogena.com, $10.49

If you have sensitive skin, look for an oil free sunscreen like this one from Coppertone. Buy it here: target.com, $6.99

What is the one beauty product you can't live without? Is it sunscreen like Bella or something else? Tell us in the comments!

Zendaya has been dominating Dancing with the Stars, but she's also winning another competition: the nail art game.

The Disney star has been flaunting her almond-shaped talons on Instagram, and we have to admit we're thoroughly impressed with her creative designs.

Earlier this week, she showed off a black-and-white motif featuring abstract flowers, golden studs, and a Chanel logo.

But before going high-fashion with her mani, the star went brighter with neon colors accented with stars, smiley faces, and the letters "D" "F" "T" "S" (an acronym for "Don't forget to smile").

We can't wait to see what she tries next -- and to copy these awesome ideas!

Rita Ora is known for her amazing style, so it should come as no surprise that the singer is absolutely flawless on the cover of Elle's Women in Music May issue.

Photographed by Thomas Whiteside, the Jay-Z protégé shot two covers for the magazine. In one Rita rocks a Mickey Mouse-inspired headpiece by Philip Treacy, along with some penciled on whiskers and a Calvin Klein bra.

And in the other, Rita goes über-glam in a blush pink Chanel Haute Couture gown, plus a stunning Ken O'Rourke headpiece and a bold red lip.

This photo shoot is just yet another sign that 2013 is going to be a very, very big year for the British singer. To see more of Rita's Elle spread, pick up the issue on newsstands April 23.

Selena Gomez is going for the gold! The star took to her Twitter yesterday to flaunt her glitzy metallic nails that just so happened to match perfectly with her phone case.

"Oh boy, I'm that girl... Lol," she captioned the photo of her gold talons. The other half of the photo shows the "Come & Get It" singer donning a glam smoky eye and bombshell waves.

After spotting the shot of Selena, we had the sudden urge to don a metal-worthy mani, too. Below are some nail polishes that will help us achieve a similar look:

How Two Sisters Went from Regular Girls to Successful Entrepreneurs (And Caught Cody Simpson's Attention!)

sweet dream girlz.jpg

Many girls dream of owning their own business one day -- after all, some of our favorite stars are in charge of their own clothing lines, nail polishes, and perfumes. But for teen sisters Brea and Halle Holmes, it's not just a dream; it's their reality.

Brea, 19, and Halle, 13, are founders and CEOs of Sweet Dream Girlz, a brand that started out as an all natural beauty line for young teens that has since expanded into shoes and clothes. (And they've picked up some very famous fans in the making including Willow Shields, Cody Simpson, and Madison Pattis! You can see a picture of Cody checking out the line at last year's Kids' Choice Awards below.)

cody_simpson_sweetdreamgirlz.jpg

Since we were so impressed with the teen sisters, we chatted with them to get the scoop on how they went from regular girls to successful entrepreneurs. And because they're experts in the beauty and fashion business, we got them to dish out some of their best style secrets, too. (We're also giving you a chance to win their products, so keep reading to find out how!)

How did you come up with the idea to launch your own skin care line?

Halle: We were having a spa night and we went to the store to stock up on supplies, but we couldn't find anything scented that was made for kids and all natural for our sensitive skin. So we decided to start our own. (Editor's note: We can confirm the Pink Sugar, French Crumb Cake and Raspberry Swirl scented moisturizers and face washes are delightfully delicious!)

What was it like turning your idea into an actual business?

Brea: We started off by trying to figure out what we actually wanted in our products. We wanted it to be all natural and we wanted scents directed to girls our age that were unique. Then after our beauty line, we had our shoe line. We wanted [it to be] something vibrant and youthful. And now we have a clothing line, too, that's really trendy. I can't even pick my favorite product we've come out with, because everything that we've made I would wear or use. They're made for girls like us.

What's your best skin tip for teen girls?

Brea: I grew up with very bad acne and I tried every product out there. My best tip is just to find something that works for your skin type. Don't try to use anything that's too harsh for your skin.

What are three trends every girl should have represented in her closet this season?

Brea: I love the whole rocker style, so a leather jacket is one -- leather is a big trend this season. [Also you should have] something red to add a pop of color to something neutral and polka dots.

What's your best piece of fashion advice you have for girls?

Halle: Be unique. Don't try to blend into the crowd and think, "Oh I should wear this because everybody else is wearing it." Just be yourself, standing out in the crowd makes you special -- and you are special!

Sweet Dream Girlz products are available on their website, plus TWIST is giving away a basket full of their skin care goodies to one lucky reader. Just leave us a comment below telling us what creative scent you'd include in your own skin care line to be entered to win!

Rihanna better watch out because it appears that Zendaya is coming for her "Queen of Killer Street Style" crown.

The Dancing with the Stars contestant was spotted in L.A. yesterday donning such an awesome outfit that we almost mistook her for the "Diamonds" singer!

The ensemble in question included a silky blue-and-pink printed blouse and matching drawstring trousers. (The slouchy look is very on trend -- pajama-inspired outfits were all over the recent runway shows!) And we especially love how she finished off the getup with effortlessly cool touches like hot pink pumps, oversized gold hoops, and a funky topknot. It's basically head to toe perfection.
